Fashion Display: Garbage
Believing in history, embracing the culture, yet still being modern and a bit of tradition. The idea of “NYC Display-Garbage” is indeed an educational fashion exhibition about the self-protection of living in a dirty city. Self-protection from everyday waste as the concept, using fashion design, and clothing, as a tool to adopt the idea of separating humans and the overwhelming garbage in the city, reminds people how terrible about drop litter carelessly and brings the awareness of sustainability.
I and my groupmates also combined some oriental elements into the design as all of us are from Asia. Adopting the silhouette and zero-waste techniques from “Han Clothing,” which are traditional Chinese garments that have more than 3000 years of history, has made our design have more abundant cultural implications. China has many varieties of armor, but the most common was the lamellar, coat of plates, brigandine, and scaled varieties Furthermore, the modern metal armor remained in limited use long after its general obsolescence. By using the traditional armor elements, use mixed materials, some of them are wasted and overlooked in our daylily life, to appearance the self-protection concept in the wasting society.
