Long ago, before fashion has appeared, garments were those clothes that can cover human body to keep people warm and comfortable. However, as time goes on, people have put more attention on the style of garments rather than the functions. The inspiration for this collection comes from the sculpture made by Mengda Zhang, who is a sculptor. The sculpture is placed in Yunnan province to commemorate the earthquake in the city Ludian. That sculpture signified the meaning of rebirth and best wishes to the survivals. After the disaster, tens of thousands of people lost their home and had suffered the cold weather. The idea of this collection—if garments would be better functional besides its appearance, just like the original use of garments, then people can feel more comfortable even under those extreme conditions. Thus, I chose to use those silver thermal blankets made of aluminum as my main fabric used in this collection; they were durable, lightweight and easy to keep your body warm. Besides the concept, shape and texture of the sculpture were also forged into my collection as details, such as the layers of the blanket. All the garments in this collection were made of the special material (Thermal blankets, life jackets, inflatable fabric) can help people to survive whenever an earthquake or other natural disasters have happened.
